Growing in popularity is quartzite. Not to be confused with man-made quartz, quartzite is an all natural stone that has the look of marble with the durability of granite. Quartzite’s hardness protects it from scratching, etching, and allows it to withstand heat. In the industry, some stones are being labeled as a quartzite when in fact it is more closely related to a dolomite or marble. When in doubt, before you make your purchase, take a sample home and do your own testing. Real quartzite will easily scratch glass.
